In 2020, Sanlorenzo launched a luxury motor yacht named Malkia. This is a sophisticated vessel built on the Italian brand’s best selling SD96 model. It boasts three separate decks, warm interiors and an elegant profile that turns heads on the water. It’s big enough to hold 10 guests which makes it the perfect family charter for anyone planning a Mediterranean adventure.
Interiors
Sanlorenzo is used to partnering with international firms to bring their unique, custom designs to life. For Malkia, they teamed with a Spanish designer named Patricia Urquiola.
She drew most of her inspiration from the sea when designing each of the yacht’s living spaces. That’s why you’ll find lots of fluid shapes and colors that flow from one room to the next. This look evokes the natural movement of the marine world and beautifully complements the exterior.
Urquiola wanted the interior to feel warm and welcoming while still maintaining an elevated and elegant look. She kept the decor minimalistic but still went bold with dramatic touches like black dining room chairs. All around the luxury yacht, you’ll find sumptuous and comfy materials like soft wicker, shiny glass and glistening wood accents. In other words, it feels just like home but with show stopping views you can only find in exclusive places like Sardinia.
So take the time to explore the different nooks and crannies to truly get a feel for her vision. There are five suites in all including a master suite, a VIP suite, one double suite and two twin suites. The yacht can also accommodate five crew members so all you have to worry about is where you’ll sunbathe next.
Dimensions & Performance
Malkia is 29.6 meters or 97’1” in length which makes her a superyacht by industry standards. I like that there’s an integrated stabilization system on board that keeps the boat from rolling from side to side when anchored. You’ll appreciate this extra stability when you see a beautiful cove you want to explore or a special bay you’d like to stay in overnight.
Her semi displacement hull makes her fuel efficient and stable while also helping her reach some impressive speeds. You’re welcome to rev her up to 20 knots but we recommend slowing it down a little. She hits her sweet spot at 14 knots and can comfortably cruise at that pace for a long time before you’ll need to refuel.
Amenities & Recreation
No one would blame you if you wanted to spend all of your time soaking up the sun and enjoying the views while cruising on Malkia. However, the adventure charter also includes many water toys for the more adventurous members of your group.
There’s a swimming platform that helps you easily transition from the deck to the water but you don’t have to stop there.
We suggest starting with the SEABOB if you’ve never used one before. This is a motorized watercraft that can operate as a Jet Ski or an underwater scooter and makes for some pretty incredible snorkeling and diving adventures. There’s also a paddleboard and inflatable doughnut that offer tons of thrills for guests of all ages.
Malkia is ready to charter for the summer or winter. Her cruising region includes the Mediterranean with stops at Italian hotspots like Corsica and Sardinia.
