Highlights

Visiting nearby islands is a huge part of what makes Mykonos special, especially with a yacht charter giving you freedom to explore.

Many of the best restaurants in Mykonos offer outdoor seating with unbroken views of the sea, not to mention world-class cuisine.

Visit the many beaches—Paradise Beach for parties, Psarou Beach for the luxury vibe, Ornos Beach for family fun, or Agios Ioannis Beach for snorkeling.

Mykonos is an island with many faces. To some, it’s a party destination, and if it’s a party you seek, you won’t have to look too hard to find it. The action starts in the afternoon at famous spots like Paradise Beach and doesn’t stop until the break of dawn. The island’s bar and club scene is equally thrilling, and the combination of vibrant nightlife and a cosmopolitan atmosphere has led it to be nicknamed the Ibiza of Greece.

But Mykonos has a quieter side. Centuries-old Orthodox churches give the island an air of tradition, as do the iconic windmills that dot the island at locations like Kato Myli. The main city center of Chora, just a few kilometers south of the Port of Mykonos on the island’s west side, offers charming architecture consisting of cube-shaped whitewashed houses along narrow, twisting alleys and streets that lead to the coast. Chora is also where you’ll find some of Mykonos’ best high-end shopping and fine dining. Ancient ruins, including those on neighboring islands such as Delos, also offer visitors much to explore.

But of course, Mykonos is known first and foremost for its beaches. From exclusive beach clubs with luxurious seaside cocktail bars and eateries to secluded strips of sand far from the beaten path, there are many places to swim and snorkel in the spectacularly clear blue Aegean waters. All this and more is at your fingertips when you travel to Mykonos by yacht.

Local Tips

Although most larger stores and restaurants take credit cards, many small local shops, cafés, and vendors only take cash. Fortunately, ATMs are plentiful on the island.

With your own yacht, many nearby islands are available to you. Delos is perhaps the most visited, but Rhenia, with excellent snorkeling, is just 10 km away by yacht. The secluded Tragonisi, with its shimmering waters and uncrowded beaches, is even closer.

Heavy clothing is unnecessary during the summer months. Shorts, short-sleeved shirts, and light dresses are standard, along with perhaps a light jacket for going out at night.

Mykonos is a very fashion-forward island, with numerous boutiques offering clothing that ranges from breezy beachwear to high-end apparel and accessories.

Reasons to charter a yacht to Mykonos versus staying in a hotel

While some travelers might prefer to stay on dry land, the advantages of booking a yacht charter to Mykonos compared to a traditional hotel are impossible to ignore. A yacht provides unlimited freedom to explore and experience the Cyclades islands and the Aegean Sea at your own pace. Yacht travel adds a sense of adventure to a Mykonos vacation, making it possible to island-hop to nearby islands as well as explore more remote parts of the coastline that most tourists never see.

Staying on a yacht also provides an elevated adventure many tourists will never experience. When the hotels in Mykonos are packed with noisy travelers, you’ll be sleeping peacefully on your yacht to the rhythm of the gentle waves. And when the beaches get crowded, you can point your vessel toward a secluded cove far from the crowds. Sun and surf are footsteps from your sleeping quarters on your private yacht.
